Based on the now unsupported fd-footnotes<\/em> plugin, Footnotation<\/em> provides \nan easy way to add footnotes to your posts.<\/p>\n\n The syntax is retained from fd-footnotes which means it is natural, simple to \nunderstand, and degrades gracefully even if the plugin is removed. Bidirectional \nlinks are created automatically between a footnote and its position in the main \ncontent where the footnote was referenced from so that readers can refer to \na footnote and return to their place in the text they were reading, with ease.<\/p>\n\n To make a footnote, type it inline within arbitrarily numbered<\/em> square brackets:<\/p>\n\n The syntax is important. Each pair of square brackets must contain a number \nfollowed by a full stop and a space and then have the footnote text itself.<\/p>\n\n Neither do the numbers have to be in order nor do they have to be unique. All \nfootnotes will be re-numbered automatically.<\/p>\n\n Show footnotes only on single posts or pages:<\/em> This option hides the list<\/em> of \nfootnotes on the main blog page but retains their numbers which will link to the \nindividual post\/page URL directly.<\/p>\n\n Collapse footnotes until they are clicked on:<\/em> This option hides footnotes \ninitially, expanding them only when a footnote reference is clicked on.<\/p>\n\n Match footnote marker colour to surrounding text:<\/em> This option makes sure the \nfootnote reference marker matches the body text (academic style). The default\noption is to have the footnote marker match the website\u2019s default link colour \n(web style).<\/p>\n\n NB Anything from links to formatting to images may be included inside a \nfootnote, except square brackets<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n NB Multiple footnotes with the same text and number will leave you with incorrect \nfootnotes. Make sure either that all footnotes have different content or, two or \nmore footnotes with the same content all have different numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n [7.
